Just be (#Rhythmic_Words)

Pure in its simplicity
Simple in its desire
Complex in its design
A deadly balance on a wire
Always there for others
With a warmth and a smile
Tries her best to be care free
But alone she withdraws
She can never just be

Hiding behind the mask
The performance every day
Everyone comes first
She will always find away
When the performance slips
Others notice and ask
It takes courage and strength
To hide her shadowed heart
But through the darkness she tries
And she laughs it away
It’s easier than to succumb
She prefers it that way

Having hope for others
Having time for their tears
Selfishly to keep away
From her nightmares and her fears
In the daylight she’s radiant
In the workplace she’s home
Keeping busy and keeping happy
Not lonely but alone
Just be, she says to herself
The intention, to let the mask slide

Just be, said to her reflection
Just be, don’t hide
But sometimes the hardest thing
Is to reach out and to see
That the smallest but biggest
And kindest act
Is to find space to
Just be…

I’ve been an avid reader and scribbler for years but only recently started thinking about publishing my work.
I’ve always enjoyed writing and have, since 2008, been producing scripts for theatre as my main focus of writing, but always scribbling poems, songs and short stories for fun, and/or catharsis. I’m also a keen sketcher and sketchnoter.
