Train

Sitting on the platform
Ticking in the distance
As the chariot draws ever nearer
Steam billowing
As angry engines rumble

I feel the sunlight
It begins to warm my skin
The beautiful innocence
Of a dawning day
As the dragon draws in
Tracks tremble

The biting air
Disrupted
By the dragon
As engines calm
To a purr
It’s now welcoming
Beaconing me
To continue my journey

Dragon-chariot waits
As weary travellers
Ascend
A hiss
We begin again
It’s gentle ticking
And rocking
Tell me we’re on the move

Realisation dawns
As my chariot
Flies closer
To its destination
Acutely aware
My destination
I know
Is far beyond this place

I’ve been an avid reader and scribbler for years but only recently started thinking about publishing my work.
I’ve always enjoyed writing and have, since 2008, been producing scripts for theatre as my main focus of writing, but always scribbling poems, songs and short stories for fun, and/or catharsis. I’m also a keen sketcher and sketchnoter.
