Taking hands

In the darkness she lies next to me
But just beyond my reach
She’s always with me
When consumed by defeat
In the performance of daily life
Just out of vision
She’s the best support act
With no spite or derision

She’s a silent ghost
No agenda hidden
Except to help me out of this darkness
When all I’ve had is given
Sometimes so distant
Sometimes quite clear
Taking my hand
She quietens all fears

Her presence is fluid, her kindness to the core
Her name is Hope, and her spirit is pure

I’ve been an avid reader and scribbler for years but only recently started thinking about publishing my work.
I’ve always enjoyed writing and have, since 2008, been producing scripts for theatre as my main focus of writing, but always scribbling poems, songs and short stories for fun, and/or catharsis. I’m also a keen sketcher and sketchnoter.
