Something new

Starting a new project, using a base character as a ‘dummy’ (in effect) and creating costumes for them to accompany quotes. This is off the back of a custom print design for Valentine’s Day, which was suggested to me. It’s a sort of ‘custom commission’ I guess, they want a copy of the print but they’re happy for it to be used and sold elsewhere or amended in the future.

Wallpaper – a poetical sketchnote

Having never done it before I decided to try sketchnoting one of my poems, I wasn’t sure how to go about it to start with so, I’ll be completely honest, I just sort of winged it. But I’m really enjoying the process and it’s an interesting way to see these two things coming together.

Ballad of Barry & Freda – Sketchnote

So I’ve been asked to do ‘The Ballad of Barry & Freda’ by the wonderful Victoria Wood.

Using the same of comic book/pop art style I used for my ‘Little Bo Peep’ illustration.

Started this yesterday with some pencil placeholders of the requested lyrics and moments from the song, and then filling in some pencil scribbles whilst listening to the song.

I’m not revisiting it with my lovely new Tombow pens.

Here’s the final print
